At House of Hilt, we use only plant based, cruelty free—meaning not tested on animals—ingredients in our products.
We believe in the power of Mother Nature’s exquisite botanical ingredients, and we also have deep respect and compassion for all beings. Our plant based philosophy is truly at the heart of everything we do.
We've found that when we choose to do what's right for Mother Nature, she returns the favor. Plant based ingredients are inherently very concentrated and full of antioxidants and vitamins. They work to restore and strengthen the body’s cells by combatting free radicals, and their vitamins are essential for maintaining the health of our skin.
“Plant based products nourish the skin, just like plant based food nourishes the cells in your body,” explains our Co-Founder and Chief Alchemist Natasha Crow. “When you use them, you connect with nature, our pure source, the essence of who we are.”
Each and every product in our line of handcrafted skincare is made from good-for-you, food-grade products like carrots, lemons, cherries, plums and avocados. We also use ingredients that incorporate every part of a plant to encourage complete skin rejuvenation. For example, the evening primrose oil in our best-selling Amber Primrose Facial Oil, which is cold-pressed from the seeds of the beautiful Oenothera biennis flower, which nourishes the skin. Likewise, the peppermint oil in our Herbal Mint Cleanser is steam-distilled from the leaves and stems of the peppermint plant, and contains powerful antibacterial properties that bring a beautiful clarity to your skin.
We also take our dedication to nature and the environment one step further: we are 100 percent cruelty-free, which means you’ll never find an animal ingredient in any of our products, nor do we engage in animal testing. Instead, we prefer to test our products on real people!
Finally, we believe that our respect and compassion for nature and animals extends to you, as well. When you engage in your skincare ritual each day, you’re taking a moment to pause and reconnect with yourself; to have a moment of compassion for yourself. We believe that having compassion for yourself allows you to have compassion for the Earth and all of its beings, too.
After all, as our Co-Founders, Jackie and Natasha, say, “When you work in harmony with nature, nature works in harmony with you.”
