5 Spring Beauty Tips You Don't Want to Miss!

The season change brings the opportunity to revive and refresh our beauty routines. Here are a few of our favorite Spring beauty tips.

  • Spring Clean Your Beauty Bag & Brushes: If it's made of a cloth-like material, hand wash using a mild shampoo or gentle cleanser, like our Herbal Mint Cleanser.  If it's made of faux leather or plastic-like material, do a thorough wipe down using a waterproof makeup remover or alcohol-based cleansing wipe. For brushes, a mild shampoo and cleanser also works. Be sure to rinse until the water runs clear. Tools like eyelash curlers, a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton round will eliminate remaining debris.

  • When in Doubt, Toss it Out: Spring clean your products by going through your personal care, makeup and beauty items one by one looking for anything that may have expired or that you just don't use any more.  When in doubt, simply toss it out.
Bonus Pro Tip: If your mascara is older than three months, it’s time to invest in a new one. Mascara can harbor bacteria and dry out as time goes by. Keep your beautiful eyes healthy and your lashes happy by treating yourself to a new tube!

  • Exfoliate Your Skin: Make sure to include exfoliation in your Spring skincare routine to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pore size as well as improve the texture of the skin to allow your makeup to be applied more smoothly. Exfoliating your skin once or twice a week works well for most skin types. If your skin is oily or more resilient, three times a week can be beneficial. Our Brighten & Refine Collection boasts several formulas to benefit each skin type.

  • Slather on the Sunblock: These longer days lend themselves to outdoor activities in the afternoon, so sunblock consistency is key. Enjoy the extra hour while protecting your skin at the same time. A good rule of thumb is to reapply your sunblock every 90 minutes to 2 hours. Or directly after swimming or perspiring. Use a reef-safe mineral sunblock such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide which is healthier for the skin and body.  If you’re spending a lot of time outside, be sure to wear your sunglasses and a fabulous wide-brimmed hat to reduce your exposure to harmful UV rays.

  • Eat for Beauty: Fresh, seasonal produce picked at its peak ripeness offers optimal nutritional density and helpful enzymes that are excellent for our overall wellness as well as gut health. A healthy gut microbiome often leads to a healthier complexion as the gut, reacting to our diet, can impact the body's inflammatory response, which may trigger skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema, and acne.

Happy Spring, Beauties!
